Ultimate Goal of All Research Is Not Objectivity but Truth
Background: The number of clinical studies published has been increasing over the year, and it has led doubling of new medical information every 72 days in 2020. The anesthetists who rely heavily on clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) to standardize patient care have a very limited opportunity to contest or report apprehension on questionable statements. Objective: To look at the clinical practice guidelines, which are increasingly important to guide clinical care. Design/Methods: (1) Academic-led, focused guidelines, government, regulator-led guidelines, living CPG, rapid statement. (2) It is an editorial based on the literature published in the form of guidelines and recommendations in the past several years in the field of anesthesia. Results: Evidence, recommendations, and CPG exist, but clear steps are needed to improve these guidelines.
