Primary Molar Pulpectomy -- Tx Outcomes Differ Significantly for Care With GA, N2O, LA

Background: It is not common that studies investigate survival rates of treatment delivered under different behavior guidance conditions, but treatment circumstances can impact treatment success. Objective: To assess clinical success of pulpectomies in primary molars performed with a calcium-hydroxide/iodoform paste, along with the potential effect of different behavior management techniques: general anesthesia (GA), nitrous oxide sedation (N 2 O), and local anesthesia (LA) alone. Design: Retrospective cohort study. Participants: Children with primary molars treated with pulpectomy using calcium-hydroxide/iodoform paste, with a minimum follow-up period of 1 year, were eligible for inclusion. Methods: Teeth with history of spontaneous pain, necrosis, fistulas, clinical abscess, and/or previous pulpotomy were included.
