Stress Testing With PET Using Flurpiridaz 18F Is Superior to SPECT MPI for CAD
Background: PET has a class 1 indication for the evaluation of patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). 18 F Flurpiridaz is a new imaging agent for PET scanning with a 110-minute half-life, which can be produced from a regional cyclotron and can be used with treadmill stress testing. Objective: To test the diagnostic accuracy of fluorine-18 ( 18 F) flurpiridaz PET scans using quantitative invasive coronary angiography (ICA) as a reference standard. Design: Phase 3, open-label, multicenter international trial. Participants: Patients who were suspected of having CAD, without a prior history of CAD, and who were candidates for coronary angiography at 48 sites in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Methods: 730 patients with suspected CAD and candidates for ICA were screened, and 578 were finally included. Unstable patients with transient ischemic attack or cerebral vascular accident within 3 months, symptomatic valvular disease, significant congenital disease,
