WBRT-SIB — Promising Strategy for Patients With BMs
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of whole-brain radiation therapy (WBRT) with simultaneous integrated boost (SIB; which delivers not only whole-brain radiation but simultaneously delivers higher radiation dose to visible brain metastasis [BM] sites) compared to WBRT alone in patients with BMs, focusing on intracranial progression-free survival (iPFS), local progression-free survival (iLPFS), distant progression-free survival (iDPFS), and overall survival (OS). To assess acute toxicity profiles and identifying subgroups who might benefit most from WBRT-SIB, particularly those with multiple or infratentorial brain lesions. Design: Retrospective, single-center, propensity score–matched cohort study conducted between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2019, with follow-up through January 30, 2023. Methods: Propensity score matching was applied to balance prognostic factors between treatment groups and reduce selection bias. Of 582 patients screened, 245 adults met the inclusion cr
