AI Can Produce Higher Quality Reformats Than Can Manual Techniques
Background: Currently, the reformatted images of head CT scans typically produced can vary significantly due to multiple factors such as patient positioning and technologist processing. Standardization of this reformatting process using artificial intelligence (AI) methods may provide more consistent, high-quality results compared to the current manual methodology. Objective: To determine whether AI-generated head CT reformatting can provide consistent, high-quality results compared to traditional manual reformatting, the authors performed this study. Design: Retrospective study. Methods: Imaging data from non-contrast head CT scans, performed from May 19, 2023, to June 30, 2023, were obtained. Patient age, gender, scanner location, and scanner operator for each of these CT scans were also obtained. The radiology interpretations for these examinations were reviewed for pertinent positive and negative findings. The pertinent abnormal findings included ischemia, hemorrhage, mass effect
