68Ga-PSMA PET Imaging Can Evaluate HCC Treatment Response
Background: Although the therapeutic options for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been increasing, the ability to determine the responses to treatments has been challenging. Since prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is often overexpressed in HCC, using gallium 68 ( 68 Ga)-PSMA PET imaging to assess the status of HCC treatment responses may be beneficial, but the consistency of the interpretations of images is essential. Objective: To determine whether 68 Ga-PSMA PET could provide images that could be interpreted in a reliable manner in comparison to other imaging modalities. Design/Participants: Institutional Review Board–approved study, performed using an Investigational New Drug application approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Included were adult patients evaluated from July 2020 to December 2023 with treatment-naive HCC. These patients were required to be scheduled for locoregional therapy (LRT) or immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy, have a contrast-e
