Delay in Mandibular Fracture Treatment Does Not Increase Risk of Complications


Background: There are several variables that must be considered when treating a mandible fracture, which include any concomitant injuries that may delay facial fracture treatment. This publication from the United Kingdom raises another factor contributing to surgery delay being operating room access. Objective: To assess if delay in surgery of mandibular fractures is associated with risk of complications and to identify risk factors (RFs) that may increase the risk of complications. Design: Retrospective, single-center cohort study. Methods: Data analysis was done for all patients who had surgical management of mandibular fractures between October 2015 and November 2023.
